Brow Lifts

Brow Lift & Forehead Lift

Our team performs brow lifts and forehead lifts to raise the eyebrows and reduce ridges and furrows on the forehead, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with other surgeries.

Three General Techniques for Brow Lift:

  • Direct – An incision is made near the brow.
  • Scalp – An incision is typically made across the top of the head from above one ear to the other. The forehead and brows are elevated, excess skin is removed, and the flap is sutured.
  • Endoscopic – Newer techniques allow for forehead lifting through small incisions in the scalp using an endoscope and specialized instruments.

Each technique has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on your specific situation. These will be discussed in detail during your consultation.

Recovery

Antibiotics may be prescribed for several days after surgery. Sutures are generally removed within one week. Swelling and bruising may occur but should subside within a few weeks. Our doctors will recommend ice compresses and eye exercises to reduce swelling and help regain mobility. Women may use eye cosmetics two weeks post-surgery. Most patients can resume normal daily activities within 1 to 2 weeks. A final evaluation may take place several months after the procedure.

Insurance

Your insurance company may cover part or all of the surgery cost if the procedure is performed due to visual impairment. In such cases, a pre-operative visual field test must be conducted by an ophthalmologist. The test results, along with photographs documenting the impairment, will be submitted to your insurance company for preauthorization. Since coverage varies, please check with your insurance carrier to determine your level of coverage.
