Pterygoid Implants are a specialized type of dental implant used for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw, particularly in the posterior (back) region. Instead of being placed in the upper jaw, these implants are anchored into the pterygoid plate, a dense area of bone located near the back of the upper jaw. Pterygoid implants are often combined with zygomatic implants for maximum support in cases of extreme bone loss.
